Going to Open Mics

OH MY GOD, OPEN MICS! If you’re a musician or singer/songwriter, or just want to have fun, go to an open mic. I’m telling you those are the best experiences I’ve ever had. What a great way to grow your audience while also meeting other people who also have fun doing what they love. Even if you don’t sing, GO! I was at an open mic at Hero’s Pub (the location of this picture) and there was a girl there who only played bass. She didn’t sing at all, she only played bass. Which, side note, bass is really hard in the first place so kudos to her for learning it. This wonder of a girl played her bass guitar to regular songs and showed off her crazy skills and my jaw was on the floor. I feel like when people think of open mics, they think of randos getting up and trying stand up comedy. That is not the case. I’ve met so many talented people at these things that I didn’t even know existed until this year.

With all of that being said, go find an open mic! My favorite one to go to is at Compass Rose Brewery every Sunday afternoon.
